Australian Biotechnologies is proud to be a charter signatory and partner of Donate Life. Most organ donors can also donate musculoskeletal tissues. Each musculoskeletal donor can help about forty to fifty patients receive bone or tendon grafts aiding and improving their quality of life and recovery from surgery. A person considering being a donor can elect to be a tissue donor without having to be an organ donor.
Australian Biotechnologies was founded in 2000 and is located in Frenchs Forest, New South Wales, Australia. Our primary business is to process innovative human tissue-based grafts to repair and promote natural healing of human bone and other tissues. Australian Biotechnologies has become the first privately owned tissue processing facility in Australia.
Australia operates differently to many other countries in relation to donated human tissue. State Governments in Australia act as sole trustees for any donated human tissue and several tiers of government need to be satisfied of the merits and efficacy of donated bone and tissue for use in transplants. Australian Biotechnologies works with agencies of the New South Wales State Government that run tissue donation programs, and leading international technology partners, to make advanced musculoskeletal allografts available to surgeons and their patients.
The Company focuses on four areas of manufacture, which are:
* Milled Bone
* Demineralised Bone Matrix (DBM)
* Allograft Bone & Tendon Grafts
* Machined Cortical grafts
The milled bone offered by the company is now terminally sterilised utilising the company’s novel super critical fluid sterilisation technology. Super critical fluid sterilisation is a green technology utilising medical grade liquid carbon dioxide that is captured as a byproduct from other industrial processes.
